YOUR BODY KNOWS STRESS
Stress isn't only something we think about.
It has a physical expression.
The tightening of the jaw.
The shoulders that never quite drop.
The breath that stays high in the chest.
The feeling of always being “on.”
Restlessness when things finally become quiet.
Difficulty settling into sleep.
These responses aren't failures. They are part of the body's way of responding and adapting to what we experience.
And sometimes, the body needs a little help finding its way back toward rest.
This is where TRE® begins.
Through simple movement and the body's natural tremoring response, we create space to notice what is happening in the body and explore what it feels like to soften, settle, and let go.
You don't need to force relaxation.
You don't need to make anything happen.
You begin by noticing, allowing, and learning to listen to what your body is communicating.
>> Yes! I Want To Experience TREYOU STAY IN CONTROL
TRE® is a somatic, body-based practice rooted in awareness, sensation, movement, and choice.
Rather than asking the body to do more, a central part of the practice is learning to notice your body's signals and respond to them.
You learn how to adjust the intensity of the tremoring, when to allow a little more, and when to slow down, pause, or stop.
More is not necessarily better.
The practice is not about how much you tremor or how intense the experience becomes. It is about staying connected to yourself as your body moves through different levels of sensation and activation.
Over time, you begin to recognize:
This is enough.
I can slow this down.
I want a little more.
I need to pause.
I'm ready to stop.
That ability to notice, choose, and respond is part of the practice itself.
I want to sign up, take me there.
What is TRE®?
TRE® stands for Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises.
Developed by Dr. David Berceli, TRE® begins with a series of seven accessible movements designed to engage and gently fatigue muscles in the legs and lower body, creating the conditions for the body's natural tremoring response, sometimes called neurogenic tremoring.
You may already recognize this response.
Perhaps you've noticed your body shake after a frightening or intense experience, tremble during an emotional moment, or felt your muscles quiver after physical exertion.
TRE® intentionally creates the conditions for this natural response to emerge in a slow, regulated, and self-directed way.
After the initial movements, we move to the floor and allow the tremoring to emerge.
The experience may range from subtle vibrations to larger movements. There is no “right” way for your body to tremor. And importantly, you remain in control of the practice.
You learn how to increase, decrease, pause, or stop the tremoring at any time.
Over time, TRE® can become a practice you use independently.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL THE STORY
TRE® does not ask you to describe what happened or revisit a difficult experience.
For people who spend much of their lives thinking, assessing, responding, documenting, problem-solving, and taking care of others, that can feel remarkably different.
TRE® FROM HOME
TRE® translates beautifully to a virtual setting.
You join from a private space where you can comfortably move and lie on the floor. I guide you through the movements, help you recognize your body's tremoring response, and teach you how to regulate the intensity of the experience.
You don't need special equipment or previous experience with yoga, mindfulness, breathwork or somatic practices.
Virtual sessions also mean you can practice from your own environment, anywhere you have privacy and an internet connection. During the TRE® practice, your camera will need to remain on so I can observe your movements, help pace the experience, and offer individualized guidance when needed.
Im Ready to Sign UpWHAT MIGHT YOU NOTICE?
Everyone responds differently to TRE®. With practice, you may begin to notice:
Less muscular tension
Some people notice a softening of chronically tight or braced areas and a greater sense of ease in the body after practicing TRE®.
A greater sense of calm
TRE® may create an opportunity for the body to shift from a state of activation toward greater quiet, peace, ease, and rest.
Greater capacity for self-regulation
Learning to increase, decrease, pause, and stop the tremoring helps you practice responding to your body's signals rather than overriding them.
Increased body awareness
Greater recognition of tension, sensation, boundaries, and signals from the body.
An evolved relationship with stress
TRE® can support you as you come down from the activation after a demanding day, difficult interaction, intense experience, or period of sustained responsibility.
Greater capacity to meet demands
As you become more aware of activation and what helps you settle, you may find greater capacity to meet the demands of work and daily life without feeling as though you are constantly pushing through.
Less bracing + guarding
Some people notice changes in their ability to settle or sleep following TRE® practice.
Feeling more present + connected
As attention moves from thinking about the body to sensing it directly, some people describe feeling more grounded, present, and connected to their physical experience.
TRE® should not be presented as a cure or treatment for PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, or other medical or psychological conditions.
It can be used alongside appropriate medical care or mental health support.
What do others think?
Kellie, US Marine
TRE has been a meaningful part of my healing journey because it allows my body to release stored tension and trauma as physical energy, without requiring me to revisit or relive the memories. I’ve experienced a greater sense of grounding and freedom through this practice, while building the capacity to stay present with discomfort and allow my body to complete what it naturally knows how to release.
Andrew, Paramedic
TRE has given me a way to work with stress without having to talk or event think through every experience. I can just pay attention to what is happening in my body and let the process go and just unfold. Angie makes it feel approachable and gave me permission to slow down and stop at any time. TRE is worth experiencing, in my opinion. Sometimes your mind has moved on, but your body hasn’t and this helped.
Anne, Social Worker
TRE practices have been supportive in reducing my symptoms of anxiety, which often show up as tightness and tension within my body. After TRE practices with Angie, I have felt lighter and more relaxed, often experiencing a shift in whatever I brought physically and emotionally into the session.
Katy, Associate Director
My healing journey began in 2021 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, at the age of 36. I have done a lot of deep trauma work but it still felt like there was more. My body was still holding onto the cancer diagnosis, a car accident, and other physical ailments and traumas. TRE was the answer to the next step in my healing journey.
Meet Angie
I am a Certified TRE® Provider, Certified MBSR Teacher through Brown University, yoga + qigong teacher, somatic and functional breathwork facilitator, educator, leader, sister, wife, daughter, friend, dog-mom, and alchemist.
My work lives at the intersection of science, embodiment, and the beautifully complex experience of being human.
I have spent much of my professional life alongside people who spend their lives caring for, protecting, teaching, and showing up for others. Since 2020, I have offered TRE® in schools and community settings, and with first responders, veterans, people in recovery, healthcare professionals, educators, caregivers, and people simply looking for a different way to relate to stress and their bodies.
I am especially drawn to working with people who have learned to keep going, even when their bodies are asking for something different.
My approach to TRE® is slow, curious, heartful, and choice-centered. Rather than asking your body to perform or pushing toward a particular release, I create space for you to listen inward, explore sensation, and become familiar with your body's own rhythms and responses.
TRE® offers us an opportunity to practice something beautifully simple: less doing, more listening. To trust the intelligence of the body and rediscover our capacity to move, regulate, soften, and return to ourselves.
